Boomslang takes over Romanian airwaves

After our last Space Invader Show featuring a great downbeat guest mix from DJ Tamaka and as part of the Loosegroove / Spaecial Beats (sic) link-up, Boomslang will feature on two Romanian FM stations over the next couple of weeks as follows:

Sepsi Radio 98.5 FM - March 24, 22:05 (UTC)
Profi Radio 94.0 FM - March 26, 22:00 (UTC)
Sepsi Radio 98.5 FM - March 31, 22:05 (UTC)

These are DJ Tamaka's 'Spaecial Beats' shows and Boomslang will be joining a list of past guests that include WRK, Newgotti and DJ Beast of the Tonetroopers. (Ain't making this shit up!)

Boomslang and Jams take over the controls again for this week's Loosegroove show and we're pleased to announce that we'll be playing an exclusive guest mix from our Romanian friend DJ Tamaka.

Tamaka hosts a weely show on Profi FM called Special Beats. It's 94 on the dial, if you're in the Kezdivasarhely region of Romania. He also caters for Sepsiszentgyorgy on Sepsi 98.5 FM.

On the off chance that you aren't local to either of those spots be sure to check out his guestmix on our show this Wednesday 16th March, 8-10pm GMT.

A classic Loosegroove radio show, first broadcast on Space Invader Radio in spring 2010 as show number 21. The Van mixes the highs and lows of the blues music genre.

The original recordings of this epic moment were damaged and lost, some say they were stolen by the cleaner, others swear they have seen them for sale on Ebay. Miraculously, the Van has been able to resurrect the show from original master tapes! Unfortunately the radio chat track was beyond repair, so the cloudcast is presented here as the original music only mix used on the show.

Black Athena run a music show every weekend on Athens International Radio (AIR) and have invited Loosegroove to play a guest mix for them this weekend. Jams has stepped up to the plate and has a special summer party mix up his sleeve.

Pressing vinyl

Here's a great short film about pressing vinyl. See the process start with pellets that warm to a toothpaste-like gloop and end up as we know & love it.

From the video it's painfully clear that this is a dying art. These guys inherited EMI's pressing machines. They're knocking on 100 years old, still apparently the best in the world and whilst watching the process you can almost smell the machine grease and plastic fumes...

Never mind the whale, the whale's fine - save the vinyl.

Crystal Fighters (not to be confused with Crystal Castles or Crystal Meth) announce the release of their debut album "Star of Love" due out at the end of September. Don't be put off by the title. They're not from around these parts. In fact they're a Spanish band that push out Basque bleeps and English vox. (Although, try not be put off by that either!)
